This Matcha Banana Smoothie is a healthy and tasty drink you can make in minutes. A nutritious addition to your breakfast!

pour banana matcha smoothie into a glass

This smoothie is made with just a handful of simple ingredients, and you will get vitamins, minerals and fiber from it. The bananas will provide natural sweetness for the drink, so no added sugar is needed.

The matcha powder provides antioxidants, as well as adds a mildly sweet flavor with a subtle grassy and vanilla note. I like to add some kale to enhance the grassy note of matcha.

    Ingredients

Here’s what you need to make this matcha banana smoothie recipe:

    • 2 teaspoons matcha
    • 2 medium bananas
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • 2 kale leaves
    • 2/3 cup ice cubes

Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until completely smooth.

    Notes for Matcha Banana Smoothie

1️⃣ If possible, use ceremonial grade matcha but you don’t need to buy the most expensive one. Generally, more expensive matcha will have a more vibrant color, more sweetness and richness, and less bitterness. You may also like this iced matcha latte.

2️⃣ Remove the tough and fibrous stem of kale before using. If you want to substitute with spinach, it should be fine.

3️⃣ You can use either fresh or frozen bananas. If you use frozen bananas, you may not need to add ice.

4️⃣ Add more or less milk to adjust the consistency of the smoothie to your liking. You can use regular dairy milk or nut milk.

5️⃣ I recommend drinking this banana matcha smoothie right away since the drink may lose its vibrant color over time. Air exposure can make matcha oxidize quickly.
